Summary: SecDrive collects only the data necessary to keep you safe. We never sell your information. Location sharing is opt-in, trip-scoped, and stops automatically. You can delete your account and data at any time.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly — such as your name, phone number, email address, and emergency contacts when you register. When you use the app, we may collect location data, device identifiers, and trip activity logs. Drivers additionally submit identity documents, vehicle registration certificates, and photographs for verification.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used to verify driver and vehicle identities, share trip details with emergency contacts you designate, monitor journey safety in real-time, send notifications via SMS, email, or WhatsApp, and improve the SecDrive platform. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Location Data
Location is collected only during active trips and only when you have granted permission. Live location links shared with emergency contacts expire automatically when a trip ends. You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings, though this will limit certain safety features.
4. Data Sharing
We share information only with: (a) emergency contacts you explicitly add, (b) authorised police stations when you opt into police notification, (c) service providers who help us operate SecDrive (under strict confidentiality agreements), and (d) law enforcement when legally required.
5. Data Retention
Trip records are retained for 12 months to support incident investigation. Account data is retained for the duration of your registration and deleted within 30 days of a verified account closure request. Driver documents are retained for the period required by Nigerian law.
6. Security
We employ industry-standard encryption, access controls, and regular security audits to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@secdriveng.com.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also object to certain processing or request data portability. To exercise any right, email privacy@secdriveng.com. We will respond within 14 working days.
8. Children
SecDrive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we will delete the account promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email. Continued use of SecDrive after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
